The End of Alzheimer's Begins with You.

And now…the Fundraising Grand Champions!

Walk To End Alzheimer's 2011 is officially in the books. We saw tremendous generosity, spirit and emotion from our walkers this year and are happy to share the wonderful news of our achievements. Central New York's five Walk To End Alzheimer's events raised $302,010 to support programs and services in our region, and research vital to finding a cure. In total, we saw nearly 2,100 people Walk To End Alzheimer's. Some came individually and others were on one of of more than 190 teams. It is also our pleasure to announced our 2011 Walk Grand Champion Fundraisers. As you know, Walk To End Alzheimer's fundraising begins each year on January 1 and continues until the clock strikes midnight on October 31. We recognize our top five walkers and teams on the day of the event and encourage everyone to continue fundraising until the very end. We are very happy to announce that Dale Grant (Canton), Yvonne Thompson (Watertown), the late Bert White (Binghamton), Letha Palczynski (Utica) and Paul Stepien (Syracuse) are this year's Grand Champion Fundraisers. This year's Grand Champion Family & Friends Teams are Memory Keepers, Marilyn Gollinger (team captain), Canton; Russell's Reminiscence, Brenda Doney, Watertown; Bert's Buddies, the late Bert White, Binghamton; Team Jessie, Letha Palczynski, Utica; and Grandma Emily, Paul Stepien, Syracuse. The 2011 Grand Champion Corporate Teams are Community Bank, N.A., Lyn Forbes, Canton; Dexter/Brownville UMC Parish, Wrights Sanitation, Becky Wright, Binghamton; Rev. Patricia Walz, Watertown; ACS, Patricia Currier, Utica; and Lockheed Martin, Jennifer Jarvis, Syracuse. New for 2011 was the Senior Care category. The 2011 Senior Care Grand Champions were United Journey, Dale Grant, Canton; Samaritan Keep Home, Claire Bissl, Watertown; United Methodist Homes, Faye Clark, Binghamton; Clare Bridge Clinton, Jennifer Hutt, Utica; St. Camillus ALZStars, Cheryl Hylton, Syracuse. The top ten individuals and top five teams in each category from each Walk are listed below, along with the final totals from each event and a link to photos from the day.
